The party's recent electoral failure sparked a massive internal mutiny, resulting in twenty sitting members of parliament abandoning the outfit to join the newly formed NCPI. Kakoli Dastidar Ghosh, a key figure in the parliamentary rebellion who is now closely aligned with the NCPI, fired back directly by invoking the highly sensitive RG Kar hospital controversy. Ghosh fiercely questioned Moitra's own moral standing and allegiance to governance, asking if she stood by "Abhaya," who tragically lost her life while protesting the systemic misuse of funds intended for the drug purchases of impoverished patients.
